Ani Book desserteditedI just recieved this gem of a  book in the mail. The book is ‘Ani’s Raw Food Desserts: 85 Easy, Delectable Sweets and Treats‘ by Ani Phyo.

Ani Phyo [pronounced P-OH] is an American raw food chef & author.

Raw food chef? How can a chef  ‘cook’ raw food? Well those who are termed ‘raw foodists’ don’t actually cook their food as you would think.

Raw food is all about prepared and mixing raw ingredients rather than heat treating food, which raw foodists are against.  Raw foodists believe that heat treating food kills live enzymes and the foods living vitality. Some raw foodists adhere to vegan diet, whereas others eat raw eggs, meat and milk.

I find this book quite interesting because it presents desserts in a way that can be really great for you (refined sugar free, wheat free, gluten free and dairy free & with an emphasis on organic foods.  And the recipes are really very delicious! The book is presented in a very cute style and the recipes all look  fantastic!

Here is one of the recipes I have made (and slightly altered) from here book:

Raw Chocolate Ganache Cake with Raspberries
